Why me and not AI?

The rapid rise of AI has understandably sparked both excitement and apprehension.

Tools like ChatGPT and other intelligent systems are becoming more integrated in our lives. As a result, it is tempting to wonder: Could AI replace coaching?

The short answer is no - and for good reason.

While AI can be a powerful support tool, true coaching is not about data analysis or automated feedback loops. It’s about people.

  • Coaching Is not just a conversation. It’s a relationship.

What makes coaching truly transformational isn’t just the questions being asked - it’s who is asking them, and how they’re listening.

The capabilities of empathy, deep listening, curiosity, trust, reading between the lines, and sensing the emotion beneath the words are all uniquely human. These capabilities can’t be simulated, they are felt.

Effective coaching also demands presence and the ability to adapt in the moment, responding to the ever-changing emotional and relational dynamics that develop.

AI can give you an answer.

  • The limitations of AI in coaching

AI can be useful for generating ideas and organising thoughts. But it cannot:

    • Build the deep rapport that makes you feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

    • Feel the energy in a room and respond with intuition.

    • Challenge you at the right moment because it knows your context, values, and patterns.

    • Hold space for your vulnerability.

These are not features. These are relationships. They’re essential for lasting transformation.

  • The role of AI: support, not substitute

Used wisely, AI can help a coach’s workflow to help track goals or summarise insights. But it does not possess the qualities of a human coach. It cannot emotionally connect with you and does not have the capability to believe in your potential the way a human coach can.

Why choose a human coach and not AI? Sarah Cartwright.

Why work with me?

Because coaching with me isn’t transactional. It’s transformational.

I see the whole person. I bring not just skills, but presence. Not just structure, but a human relationship.

I understand my role is to support you as you discover clarity, confidence, resilience and growth on your own terms.

Fundamentally at its heart, coaching is a profoundly personal and human process - one that no algorithm can replicate.
